Aunt Sonja's Beef Stroganoff


Enough for 4 people




1 kg topside cut into strips or cubes
2 onions, sliced in rings
1 punnet mushrooms, sliced
1 tin creamed mushrooms
1 – 1 ½ cups Lieberstein, or any other white wine you prefer
250 ml Sour Cream
1 – 2 TBS mustard*
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Cooking oil


METHOD
  • Fry the onions in a little bit of oil until soft, add the meat and fry until meat is browned
  • Add the wine and let simmer until meat is soft
  • Add the sour cream, mustard and mushrooms and creamed mushrooms
  • Simmer until mushrooms are done
  • Add salt and pepper to taste 
  • Serve with rice, pasta or couscous


*Prepared mustard or "ready made" e.g. Steers' Mustard Sauce
